Workshop on Digital Skills Conducted for Mechanical Engineering Students

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, BIT Polytechnic, Mangalore, successfully organized a Workshop on Digital Skills on 28 July 2026 in the BUG Lab for the 5th Semester Mechanical Engineering students.

The session was conducted by Mr. Chittharanjan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, BIT Polytechnic. The workshop focused on enhancing students’ digital and professional competencies through practical exposure to software tools such as MATLAB, Canva, and other useful applications.

During the session, students were introduced to the fundamentals of MATLAB for engineering computations and problem-solving. They also learned how to use Canva to create professional presentations, posters, resumes, certificates, and other visual content. The resource person demonstrated the practical applications of these tools and encouraged students to enhance their creativity and technical skills.

The workshop was highly interactive, with students actively participating in hands-on activities, asking questions, and exploring the various features of the software. The session highlighted the importance of digital skills in academics, project work, and career development.

Overall, the workshop was informative and beneficial. It enhanced the students’ technical knowledge, creativity, and confidence in using modern digital tools, preparing them for future academic and professional success.
