As part of the student induction program, Bearys Polytechnic organized an insightful session on “Civil Engineering in the AI Era (2026)” on 30 June 2026, led by Dr. Althamashuddin Khan Nadeemllah for first-year Diploma Civil Engineering students. The session introduced students to the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern civil engineering and infrastructure development.
The resource person explained how AI-powered technologies, including machine learning, computer vision, drones, Building Information Modelling (BIM), robotics, and predictive analytics, are enhancing project planning, construction, quality control, safety, and infrastructure maintenance. The session also highlighted the importance of smart cities, digital twins, automated surveying, and AI-assisted project management in shaping the future of the industry.
Students were encouraged to develop digital and analytical skills by learning tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, GIS, and data analysis applications, alongside their core engineering subjects. The speaker emphasized that while AI enhances efficiency and sustainability, professional judgment, ethics, and human expertise remain essential in engineering practice.
The interactive session inspired students to embrace emerging technologies, strengthen their technical foundations, and prepare for successful careers in the evolving field of civil engineering.
