Mangaluru, 7 September 2026: As part of its NSS activities, the NSS Unit of BIT Polytechnic organised an educational visit to the Fire Station, Pandeshwar, Mangaluru, on 7 September 2026. The visit aimed to provide students with practical knowledge and awareness of fire safety, emergency response and the vital role of firefighters in society.
A total of 50 students and 4 faculty members participated in the visit. The students attended an informative session conducted by the fire station personnel, who explained various aspects of fire prevention, emergency preparedness, rescue operations and the duties and responsibilities of firefighters.
The students also witnessed practical demonstrations of firefighting equipment and safety procedures, gaining a better understanding of how firefighters respond to emergency situations. The interactive session encouraged students to actively participate, ask questions and clarify their doubts.
As a gesture of appreciation for the valuable service rendered by firefighters, the NSS Unit of BIT Polytechnic presented a token of gratitude to the Fire Station, Pandeshwar.
The visit provided students with valuable real-world knowledge about fire safety and emergency preparedness while fostering a sense of responsibility, awareness and respect for emergency service personnel. The programme was successfully conducted and served as a meaningful learning experience for the participating students.
