Mangaluru, 10 August 2026: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at BIT Polytechnic Mangaluru organised an industrial visit to Expertise Training Centre, Kotara Chowki, Mangaluru, for final-year Mechanical Engineering students. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to industrial equipment, tools and processes associated with the oil and gas industry.
As part of the visit, students were introduced to the Advanced Practical Lab for Oil & Gas Industry Courses at the training centre. They observed various industrial training equipment, including reactors, columns, vessels, heat exchangers, high-pressure water jetting systems, mechanical tools, bolt tightening and tensioning equipment, rotary equipment, and single- and double-line breathing apparatus.
The instructors explained the basic working principles, applications and significance of the equipment in industrial environments. Students also interacted with the trainers and clarified their queries, gaining a better understanding of industrial practices and applications.
The visit helped students connect their theoretical knowledge with practical applications and enhanced their understanding of mechanical systems, industrial tools, maintenance practices and workplace safety. It also provided valuable insights into the skills required of mechanical engineering professionals and career opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
The industrial visit was a valuable learning experience for the final-year students, strengthening their practical knowledge and industry awareness while helping them relate classroom concepts to real-world industrial applications.
